This sculpture explores the woman’s body in relation to maternity. It captures the blossoming of the body to nurture a new life, but the tension in the figure also symbolises the realisation of possible loss through miscarriage. The body is ready to nourish, but there is no new life to nourish. Therefore, the sculpture reflects on motherhood and the love and sacrifice involved in its fulfilment.
